Cafe Loft – a reconstruction of an old two-story building in Almaty, with a brick wall supporting structure and gabled roof with a beam rafter ceiling system.
The loft style is proposed in order to maximize savings and to better reflect the new life of the old building.
The exposure of the technical, structural basis in the “skeleton” of the ceiling, walls, and additions imitating antiqueness give the visitor the opportunity to feel the spirit of the aesthetics of the old buildings of the fifties in the twentieth century. Nostalgia for a bygone era is combined here with a new context of time.
The internal space underwent a complete reconstruction, except for the preservation of the ceiling system, which was stripped to its primordial form of beams and bolts. Preserved in the same vein are the white-painted brickwork walls, wooden panels, and metal used on the columns, cabinets and other details. All details were fulfilled according to custom requests.
