Is it possible to find a place to live in seclusion in Almaty?
Blooming gardens, rooftop terraces, vertical gardens, and streets named after fruit. All of this will soon appear in Almaty's Koktobe City residential complex. Kusto Group recently unveiled the third phase of apartments in the new complex, located at the foot of Mount Koktobe. The unique architecture of the new community was created by INK Architects.
While the autumn weather lingered outside, a warm, neighborly event inspired by the spirit of "old Almaty" unfolded at the Forum shopping center, capturing the atmosphere of the new residential complex. "Almaty residents should spend more time with their loved ones, not wasting it on commuting" – this is the main idea and philosophy of the Koktobe City project. Following the principles of polycentric urban development, the developers have provided the necessary infrastructure for comfortable living: the complex will have its own High Tech Academy school, two kindergartens, a supermarket, and a fitness center with a swimming pool, along with extensive on-site amenities. The complex's convenient location near the Eastern Bypass Road allows for easy access to the city center. Here, in Almaty's well-known Kompota district, the architects will retain the street names of Grushevaya, Slivovaya, and Yablonovaya, while fruit trees will adorn the gardens and fill its alleys with their fragrance.
In addition to its convenient location and stunning views of the TV tower and mountains, this unique residential complex combines the benefits of a country house and a city apartment. Instead of numerous high-rises, it features low-rise buildings, and vertical landscaping will create a cozy courtyard space.
The project was developed by INK Architects, a renowned architectural firm specializing in residential and commercial construction. Projects include Hilton Astana, the Aura Business Center, Sensata, the Central Avenue and City Walk residential complexes, the Gagarin Park residential complex, 5 Avenue, Art Residence, and many others.
The company's founder, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and a corresponding member of the International Academy of Architecture, Nurlan Kamitov, explained: "INK Architects has extensive experience working with projects of various scales at all stages of their implementation: from concept development, through the approval of all documentation, to the construction of the building. This workflow allows us to preserve the original designer's vision."
Nurlan Kamitov noted that often, the developed and approved architectural concept is distorted during the detailed design process, and the final result differs radically from the architect's intended vision. "This discrepancy may be explained not so much by any specific limitations, but by the designers' reluctance to explore alternatives for implementing the original vision. They essentially make the project 'convenient for themselves.' Our company strives to realize all the ideas conceived in the sketches." To achieve this, we draw on global experience in developing similar projects, taking into account all stages of the project. In this project, we managed to preserve the architectural essence and authenticity of the new residential complex. In other words, we implemented the architectural concept from concept to design and estimate documentation. Today, it's clear how important it is for a single team to implement the concept—from conception to construction—because we, as the designers, are committed to avoiding any changes or distortions to the design and preserving the original, ideal architectural image. It's worth noting that one of the most important factors is the budget, within which everything fits," explained the company's founder.
"We were drawn to this project for many reasons, primarily the unique location, and the complex terrain of the site required special engineering solutions. We also had to offer a unique architectural design for each house. I can say that each house is a standalone work, combining European neoclassical styles and a fresh interpretation of modernist architecture with elements of New York style." The complex won't be uniform and monotonous; it will be unique in many ways. Here, you can live "outside the city," yet still be in the center of a vibrant metropolis," emphasized Nurlan Kamitov.
